Introduction:

Department of Medicine MTKTH believes in evidence-based Medicine and strives always for efficient management of patients. It is having four functional units which are supervised by highly qualified hard-working faculty. The department ensures the provision of under-graduate medicine & related specialties teaching in Khyber Medical College / Khyber College of Dentistry and Post-graduate medicine training via PGMI & CPSP. Department of Medicine is actively involved in medical research-related activities, Procedural skills training, and professionalism in young trainees and also arranges regularly clinic pathological conferences, symposia, medical conferences, journal clubs, and mortality morbidity meetings.

Services

We are providing the following services

Evaluate, diagnose, treat, and provide consultation to patients 12 years of age and older with common and complex illnesses, diseases, and functional disorders of the pulmonary, cardiac & vascular, gastrointestinal & hepato-biliary, rheumatologic, immunologic and allergic, electrolytes & acid base balance, genitourinary disorders, nervous system, dermatology, psychiatric, endocrine & diabetes, lipids, nutritional & obesity, Infectious diseases.
We also provide consultations in Disease Prevention & Control, pre-operative & peri-operative management, geriatric care (diagnostic, therapeutic, preventive and rehabilitative aspects of illness in the elderly), palliative care and pain management, environmental emergencies & poisoning.
As part of acute medical and resuscitative services, we do assessment, stabilization, and determine disposition of patients with emergent/acute conditions in the systems mentioned above.

The Department is providing 24/7 services for patients admitted with acute and critical illnesses
