Brief Description Biomedical Engineering
The Biomedical Engineering Department at Khyber Teaching Hospital plays a vital role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and uninterrupted operation of The Nephrology Division & Hemodialysis Unit at Khyber Teaching Hospital (KTH), Peshawar, is a specialized department under the Medical Specialty Department, dedicated to the diagnosis and management of kidney-related diseases. The department provides comprehensive dialysis services and is committed to delivering high-quality patient care through a team of trained professionals. Alongside clinical services, the department focuses on medical education, research, and the continuous improvement of nephrology services in line with international standardsmedical equipment across all clinical areas of the hospital. The department is staffed by a dedicated and skilled team of biomedical engineers and technicians committed to supporting high-quality patient care through effective management of healthcare technology

Key Performance Indicators
- Implantation of standard four dialysis sessions for regular dialysis patients by June, 2026
- Participation of trainees in regular mock examination and MCQs testing by December 2026
- Implantation of full prescription of dialysis treatment for each patient as per international standard by December, 2026
- Applying to transplant authority for registration in transplant program by December, 2025
- Signing of MOU with cardiology unit for utilizing their Cath lab for interventional procedure by December, 2025
- Provision of a designated suit/chamber for CAPD patients by December, 2027
- Establishing 5 bedded HDU in nephrology ward with trained staff and relevant equipment by June, 2027
- Expansion of nephrology unit by increasing bed strength and acquiring extra space (due to heavy work load) by December, 2028
- Up gradation of our minor OT to fully functional OT with relevant staff by December, 2029
